Daniel Steven Herman MD, PhD

Dr. Daniel S. Herman, MD, Ph.D. program at Harvard University and am now a clinical pathology resident at the University of Washington. In graduate school, Herman developed molecular biology and informatics methods and applied them to the study of human cardiomyopathies. In residency, Herman has focused on chemistry, informatics, and molecular genetics. In a recent project, Herman retrospectively identified analytical false elevations of cardiac troponin and designed and implemented a largely automated system to detect and correct these errors in real-time. Herman is interested in developing new approaches and tools to make better use of existing laboratory data and bringing new complex data sources into clinical practice, particularly in the areas of cardiovascular disease prediction and prevention.
