Csaba P. Kovesdy, MD, is the Fred Hatch Professor of Medicine in Nephrology and Director of the Clinical Outcomes and Clinical Trials Program at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis, Tennessee, and Chief of Nephrology at the Memphis VA Medical Center in Memphis, Tennessee. Dr. Kovesdy earned his medical degree Summa cum Laude from the University of Pecs Medical School in Pecs, Hungary. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at the Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, MI, and a clinical fellowship in Nephrology at the Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center in Baltimore, MD.
Dr. Kovesdy’s main research interests are centered on the epidemiology, outcomes, and disease mechanisms of patients with pre-dialysis chronic kidney disease and ESRD. He has published his research in over 600 peer-reviewed articles, as well as numerous abstracts and book chapters. Based on his number of publications, Dr. Kovesdy was ranked fourth among 94,040 published authors worldwide (top 0.0041%) on the topic of CKD from 2009 through 2022 by the website Expertscape. He is a Fellow of the American Society of Nephrology, a member of the European Renal Association – European Dialysis and Transplant Association and the International Society of Nephrology, and he is President-Elect of the International Society of Renal Nutrition and Metabolism.
