Biography :

Dr. Colin Fuller graduated in Chemistry from Exeter University and obtained his PhD in Chemistry from Strathclyde University . He worked as a manager in industry for 25 years in various roles related to risk management. He subsequently lectured in risk management at Loughborough University and originated the MSc programme in health and safety management at the University of Leicester . He is the lead author of the textbook ‘Health and Safety Management: Principles and Best Practice'.

Dr. Fuller has been a member of the Fédération Internationale de Football Association's Medical Assessment and Research Centre (F-MARC) in Zurich since 1998 and has collaborated with F-MARC on numerous research projects since then. Current research projects with FIFA include investigation of injury simulation in FIFA tournaments and the development and implementation of FIFA's 'Football for Health' programme in Africa. He was one of several international authors responsible for the production of FIFA's Football Medicine Manual, which was published in 2005.

Dr. Fuller has worked with England Rugby (Rugby Football Union and Premier Rugby Ltd) since 2001. He was responsible for developing and implementing the Audit of Injuries amongst Premier League rugby players in 2002 and this study continues at the Centre for Sports Medicine. He is currently working on a research project with the RFU and the International Rugby Board (IRB) investigating the causes of tackle injuries in professional rugby union. Other current projects with the IRB include epidemiological studies of injuries associated with artificial turf in England and Hong Kong and experimental law variation in the southern hemisphere.

Dr Fuller's main research interests are the management of risk in professional sport and the epidemiology of sports injuries.
