Christos Georgalas Ph.D., DLO, FRCS(ORL-HNS) graduated with Magna Cum Laude from the University of Athens and was trained in Otolaryngology in London (North Thames Rotation). He completed a rhinology/facial plastic fellowship in Hospital Lariboisiere, Paris, and Academic Medical Centre, Amsterdam, where he was appointed and worked from 2007 to 2015, In AMC, he initiated together with dr van Furth, ESA, the Endoscopic Skull Base Centre, Amsterdam, a multidisciplinary center involving AMC, Vrij Universiteit Medical Center and National Cancer Institute. In 2015 he left AMC, together with dr v Furth and moved to Athens, Hygeia Hospital, where he created the Endoscopic Skull Base – Athens, while he is also collaborating with LUMC and is a Professor of Surgery at the University of Nicosia medical school.

Christos Georgalas has more than 100 peer-reviewed publications with more than 2000 citations and is the editor of the textbook “Rhinology and Skull Base Surgery” as well as more than 20 book chapters. He co-authored the European Position Paper on Rhinosinusitis (EPOS 2012), the International Consensus Statement on Rhinosinusitis, and the European position paper on the anatomical terminology of the internal nose and paranasal sinuses.

Christos Georgalas is invited surgical tutor in a number of international courses, including in the Netherlands ( Advanced Techniques in Sinus Surgery, AMC since 2007, including live surgery, Leiden Basic FESS course), Italy (Milano Masterclass since 2010), United Kingdom (St Mary’s Facial Plastic Surgery Course, Nottingham Frontal sinus course and Newcastle Pituitary Course, Manchester Sinus and Rhinoplasty dissection course ), Croatia (Navigated Endoscopic Surgery (NESS) course), Malta (Mediterranean Rhinoplasty course), USA (Ohio Endoscopic Skull Bas Course, Atlanta OASIS), Spain (Barcelona Skull base Course) and Greece.

Christos Georgalas is the International Editor of Clinical Otolaryngology Journal, was the National representative for Netherland at the European Rhinology Society from 2010-to 2015 and he is currently secretary of the Greek Rhinology Society, and founding member and General Secretary of the Hellenic Society of Head and Neck Oncology. Like dr van Furth, he is a firm believer in collaboration within strong multidisciplinary teams.
