Professor Chris Peck is an orofacial pain specialist who conducts research on biomechanical aspects of jaw function, evidence-based diagnosis and management of orofacial pain, and biopsychosocial contributors to pain perception and jaw dysfunction. This research has provided clinical management strategies to improve the management of oral and facial pain and musculoskeletal disorders. He has worked with NSW Health in developing community surveys and his research focus has included an interdisciplinary focus investigating the biological, psychological, and social aspects of pain. He has developed collaborations with Universities in Canada, The Netherlands, Japan, and Thailand and led international consortia into research criteria for jaw disorders. Professor Peck is a Senior Staff Specialist at Royal North Shore Hospital Pain Management and Research Centre and is Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Sydney, where he leads orofacial pain curricula. He is a member of the Jaw Function and Orofacial Pain Research Unit at Westmead Hospital.

His current research and teaching interests are in the assessment and management of oral and facial pain and he maintains a clinical practice in orofacial pain management. He is currently President of the Australian and New Zealand Academy of Orofacial Pain, is President-elect of the International Research Diagnostic Criteria for Temporomandibular Disorders Consortium Network, and Chair of the Australasian Council of Dental Schools.

Professor Peck has been funded by competitive national grants in Canada and Australia and published in key biomechanics and neuroscience journals. He continues with his research activities despite a heavy administrative load.

Professor Chris Peck has considerable experience in facial biomechanics and pain research, clinical orofacial problems, and leading teams.
