Christopher is a radiation oncologist who specializes in caring for people with gastrointestinal cancers. These include rectal cancer, liver cancer, gallbladder and bile duct cancer, pancreatic cancer, gastric cancer, and anal cancer. He see patients at Memorial Sloan Kettering in Manhattan. A radiation oncologist cared for someone close to him when he was in medical school. This personal experience had a profound impact on him, and he decided to pursue a career in radiation oncology. It still impacts me today in his interactions with patients and their loved ones.

Many patients who come to his office are frightened by the concept of radiation therapy. During the appointment, they spend a lot of time discussing side effects. He explain to his patients that the advanced technologies we use allow us to pinpoint where the radiation goes in the body. This accuracy helps us avoid healthy tissue and hopefully reduce the risk and severity of radiation therapy side effects.

He is leading several cancer clinical trials across the country. These are focused on delivering doses of radiation therapy that can eliminate tumors in liver cancer and pancreatic cancer. These doses are two to three times higher than regular doses. They have found that they can provide positive outcomes for people with liver cancer and pancreatic cancer that cannot be removed through surgery.
