Christina Hanson RN, BSN, FNP-C

Christina J. Hanson, RN, BSN, FNP-C, is a highly experienced advanced practice provider specializing in Gastroenterology and Hepatology, with nearly 20 years of clinical experience. She has served as the Lead Advanced Practice Provider for GI/Hepatology at South Denver Gastroenterology in Englewood, Colorado, since 2007, where she manages patients with complex acute and chronic gastrointestinal and liver conditions while promoting evidence-based, patient-centered care.

In addition to her clinical responsibilities, Hanson is an active clinical researcher and sub-investigator, with extensive experience in clinical trials involving MASH/NASH, MASLD, primary biliary cholangitis (PBC), liver fibrosis, cirrhosis, hepatic encephalopathy, primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC), and chronic hepatitis C. Her research portfolio includes studies evaluating emerging therapies for metabolic and cholestatic liver diseases, as well as treatments for gastrointestinal disorders.

Hanson is deeply involved in professional leadership and education. She has served as a Course Director and Board of Trustee for Gastroenterology Hepatology Advanced Practice Providers (GHAPP) since 2014 and is the founder and Lead APP of the Rocky Mountain GHAPP Chapter. She also contributes to several professional organizations and educational initiatives focused on advancing the role and professional development of advanced practice providers in gastroenterology and hepatology.

She is a frequent national and regional speaker, moderator, and educational content developer, presenting on topics including MASH/NASH, PBC, cirrhosis, hepatic encephalopathy, IBS, IBD, liver disease, and emerging therapies. She has participated in educational programs for organizations including the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, GHAPP, the American College of Gastroenterology, and other national medical education initiatives.

Hanson has authored and co-authored peer-reviewed publications, abstracts, and educational materials addressing hepatic encephalopathy, PBC, liver biomarkers, pruritus, and emerging hepatology therapies. Her professional interests center on improving outcomes in chronic liver disease, advancing evidence-based GI and hepatology care, supporting clinical research, and strengthening education and leadership opportunities for advanced practice providers.
