Christina A. Wilson MD, PhD, FAAN

Christina Wilson, MD, Ph.D. is an Associate Professor of Neurology at the University of Florida College of Medicine. She serves as the Neurology Residency Program Director, Vascular Neurology Fellowship Director, and Associate Chair of Education for the Department of Neurology. She is also the interim chief of the vascular neurology division and a key member of the only comprehensive stroke program in north central Florida.

Dr. Wilson graduated from Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina, with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. She completed her doctorate degree in pharmacology in 2001 at the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia. Her research focused on the cell biology of presenilin proteins associated with Alzheimer’s disease, for which she was awarded a Howard Hughes Medical Institute Predoctoral Fellowship. Dr. Wilson completed her medical degree at the University of Pennsylvania and was an intern in internal medicine at Pennsylvania Hospital, where she was elected Intern of the Year. She then completed her residency in neurology in 2012 at the University of Pennsylvania and was a neurovascular fellow at the same institution from 2012-2013.

Dr. Wilson joined the faculty of the UF Department of Neurology in 2013 and began as residency program director in 2015. She currently provides stroke care for hospitalized patients and supervises the resident continuity clinic. Dr. Wilson also handles didactic training on stroke mechanisms of disease and mentors stroke fellows, medical students and residents. Dr. Wilson’s main interests lie in neurology graduate medical education and clinical stroke management. She is the local primary investigator for several national clinical stroke trials and regularly educates the community and EMS about stroke via outreach events.
