Celia M. Manaia PhD, BSc

​Celia M. Manaia is an Assistant Professor with Habilitation at the School of Biotechnology of the Portuguese Catholic University, where she is part of the Faculty Direction board and leader of the Environmental Research Group Diagnosis of the Centro de Biotecnologia e Química Fina. Her research is focused on the bacterial ecology in human-impacted environments, with particular emphasis on the spread of antibiotic resistance over the urban water cycle and the interface water-soil. The approaches most used combine culture-dependent and culture-independent methods on the study of the dynamics of bacterial communities and genetic elements.
