Carlos E. Plancha MD, PhD

Carlos E. Plancha received his Degree in Medicine in 1985 and Ph.D. in Medicine in 1996 (Area: Histology and Embryology, Faculty of Medicine of the University of Lisbon – FMUL). He is an Associate Professor at FMUL and, Director of the Reproduction Biology Unit (at the Institute of Molecular Medicine from 1998 to 2005; at the Institute of Histology and Developmental Biology, FMUL, since 2005). Plancha is a Laboratory coordinator of the CEMEARE Center since 1999. Senior Clinical Embryologist certified by the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE) in 2008. Coordinated the Laboratory Team responsible for the first babies born in Portugal by IVM (Oocyte Maturation In Vitro).

Plancha is a Vice-President of the Portuguese Society of Reproductive Medicine (SPMR) from 2006 to 2009. Currently a member of the Technical Council of SPMR. Member of the ESHRE Executive Committee from 2007 to 2011. Member of the National PMA Council. Associate Editor of the publication Human Reproduction
