Dr. Bernard Park received his Bachelor of Science degree from Georgetown University and medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. He then trained in general surgery at New York-Presbyterian Hospital-Cornell. During surgical residency, he spent two years as a Clinical Associate in the Surgery Branch at the National Cancer Institute and as a research fellow in the laboratory of David Bartlett. Upon completion of general surgery training, Dr. Park pursued a cardiothoracic residency at New York Presbyterian Hospital-Cornell in the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center thoracic track. Following his thoracic training, he joined the faculty at MSKCC where he is currently Deputy Chief of Thoracic Surgery and Attending Surgeon.

Dr. Park has a strong interest in the surgical care of thoracic malignancy, particularly in the role of advanced minimally invasive techniques for early-stage and locally advanced disease. He has been a pioneer in the development of robotic thoracic surgical techniques, having been one of the first to describe robotic lobectomy for the treatment of localized lung cancer.
