After graduating with a M.D. at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in 2004, Dr. Chong pursued dermatology residency training at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, MI, where he was selected Chief Resident during his final year. Having completed his dermatology residency and board certification, Dr. Chong joined the Department of Dermatology at UT Southwestern Medical Center as Assistant Instructor in 2008, and was promoted to Assistant Professor in 2009. He is currently the director of the UT Southwestern Connective Tissue Disease Clinic and the Medical Director of Dermatology at Parkland Memorial Hospital. He is also the principal investigator of the UT Southwestern Cutaneous Lupus Registry, which seeks to better understand the etiology of cutaneous lupus, and improve diagnosis and management of cutaneous lupus. He has authored a total of 25 peer-reviewed journal articles, and four book chapters, and received research funding for his research in cutaneous lupus from the Dermatology Foundation, American College of Rheumatology and Arthritis Foundation, and the National Institutes of Health.
