Austin Chiang MD, MPH, FASGE, FACG

Austin Chiang, MD, MPH, FACG, FASGE, is a triple board-certified gastroenterologist and advanced endoscopist specializing in interventional gastroenterology, endoscopic weight loss treatments, and complex gastrointestinal procedures. He serves as Chief Medical Officer of Endoscopy at Medtronic and Associate Professor of Medicine at Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Dr. Chiang earned his medical degree from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and a Master of Public Health from Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. He completed his internal medicine residency at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, followed by fellowships in gastroenterology and bariatric endoscopy at Brigham and Women's Hospital/Harvard Medical School and advanced endoscopy at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.

His clinical expertise includes endoscopic bariatric procedures, minimally invasive weight loss treatments, and advanced endoscopic diagnosis and treatment of gastrointestinal diseases. His areas of focus include pancreatic and biliary disorders, gastrointestinal cancers, complex polyp removal, and early cancer treatment. He is also recognized for his contributions to healthcare communication, digital health education, and the responsible use of social media to improve public access to reliable medical information.

Dr. Chiang is the founding president of the Association for Healthcare Social Media and has held leadership and committee roles with several professional organizations, including the Association for Bariatric Endoscopy, American College of Gastroenterology, and American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. He is also the author of Gut: An Owner's Guide, published in 2024, which explores digestive health and innovations in gastroenterology.
