Arthur Musakulu Kemoli BDS, MSc, PhD

Arthur is currently working as a Senior Lecturer and Chairman of the Department of Paediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics, University of Nairobi, Kenya. He also serves as a Senior Paediatric Dentistry Consultant and the Chairman of MiSeDhealth Foundation and Kenya Association of Paediatric Dentists. As a clinical practitioner, researcher and a proponent of preventive oral health care for all children in the greater East African region, Arthur has implemented programmes geared to increasing access to oral health care by all children, and especially the vulnerable children and children with special health care needs living in the rural areas. These programmes have included research in dental caries, talks to general medical colleagues on issues related to common risk approach to the prevention of oral diseases, training of Community Oral Health Officers in the delivery of oral health education and the use of atraumatic restorative treatment approach in the prevention and management of dental caries. In all cases, the emphasis has been on early detection of oral diseases, risk assessment and early intervention, oral health literacy and encouragement of the communities in the utilization of the limited oral health services available to the children.
