Dr. Angela Turalba cares for patients at Mass. Eye and Ear's main campus as well as Mass. Eye and Ear's satellite office in East Bridgewater, where she also serves as Site Director. She also sees patients at the Veterans Administration Boston Healthcare System, where she specializes in both complex cataracts and glaucoma.
Dr. Turalba attended Brown University, earning an undergraduate degree in Neuroscience and History of Art and Architecture, a graduate degree in Medical Studies, and a medical degree. She completed her residency training in the HMS Department of Ophthalmology and served as Chief Resident and Director of the Ocular Trauma Service at Mass. Eye and Ear. Subsequently, she continued at Mass. Eye and Ear, completing subspecialty training in glaucoma.
An avid researcher, Dr. Turalba studies the epidemiology of glaucoma. She is especially interested in how trauma, environmental factors, and systematic disease contribute to the condition. Of note, she received a postdoctoral fellowship to evaluate the effects of caffeine on eye pressure and glaucoma, and she has authored a chapter on "Traumatic Glaucoma" for the Wills Eye Atlas.
