Andrew Long MSc, MBBS, FRCP, FRCPCH, FAcadMEd, FHEA

Dr. Andrew Long was the RCPCH Vice President for Education & Professional Development from 2013 to June 2018 having previously held several senior College roles. He is an Honorary Associate Professor at University College, London and an Honorary Fellow of the RCPCH.

Andrew has been a consultant in general pediatrics for over 28 years. He was appointed to Great Ormond Street Hospital in 2011 to support the development of the new team of general pediatricians. He became Specialty Lead for the general pediatric team in 2013 and was appointed as Deputy Medical Director and Responsible Officer in 2016 with a brief for managing revalidation and medical affairs. He is an Assessor for the National Practitioner Performance Advice Service (previously NCAS).

Andrew has been involved in the work of the Academy of Medical Royal Colleges where he leads the work on remediation for doctors in difficulty. He has a longstanding interest in mentoring and careers support and completed a Masters in Interprofessional Education in 2008.
