Dr Hartle works as a Consultant anaesthetist and intensivist based at St Mary’s Hospital, part of Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. He is also the Trust lead for consent and mental capacity and was previously Chair of the Clinical Ethics and Clinical Risk Committees.
Apart from leading the AAGBI’s activities on safety, education and research he will lead a major fundraising campaign called Lifeboxes for Rio. The aim of the campaign is to raise the funding for 600 Lifebox pulse oximeters, one for each Team GB athlete attending the next Olympic and Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro in 2016. The funds will save thousands of lives around the world in countries where patients are at risk of death from oxygen starvation during surgery.
