Dr. Clarkson’s research expertise and focus are in the field of post-stroke neuroprotection, regeneration and repair mechanisms. His research is directed at promoting recovery of sensory and motor functions following a stroke and investigating underlying mechanisms associated with delayed impairment in memory. Further, he is investigating changes that occur as a consequence of preterm birth in order to find novel pharmacological treatments. To address these questions, he uses novel drug therapies, rehabilitation, stem cell therapies, and novel drug delivery systems to enhance brain repair processes.
