Andreas Burchert is the Director of the Department of Hematology, Oncology, and Immunology in Marburg, Germany. He received his medical training at the Charité, Humboldt University Berlin, the University of Bern, and the University of North Carolina. His basic science and translational research focus is the molecular pathogenesis of leukemia and the development of targeted and immune-stimulatory interventions in acute and chronic myeloid leukemia. Prof. Burchert’s primary research focus is on novel therapies for the treatment of acute myeloid leukemia (AML). In particular, Prof. Burchert has recently worked on a study investigating whether FLT3-ITD inhibition with sorafenib can prevent AML relapse.
