Andrea J. Boon, M.D., is a Professor in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and the Department of Neurology. Her clinical focus is in musculoskeletal medicine and clinical neurophysiology (diagnosis of nerve and muscle disease). In addition to her clinical activities, Dr. Boon is active in research and education, providing mentorship to residents and fellows, and has spearheaded the incorporation of neuromuscular ultrasound into the Mayo EMG lab practice.
Her research interests include neuromuscular ultrasound with a focus on diagnostic ultrasound in diaphragm disorders, and she is the lead investigator in the first human safety trial evaluating platelet exosomes in knee osteoarthritis. She lectures nationally and internationally and publishes frequently in scientific journals.
