Dr. Ananth Pai is a lead surgeon in NMC Specialty Hospital Abu Dhabi with more than 30 years of experience in General and Laparoscopic Surgery. He has Master’s Degree from Kasturba Medical College in Manipal, India. Dr. Ananth has a Fellowship from Royal College of Surgeon Glasgow Laparoscopic Surgery (FMAS), as well as in Hernia and Breast Surgery. He is heading the department of surgery since 7 years here in NMC Specialty Hospital Abu Dhabi.
Dr. Ananth’s main interest of Surgery are daycare surgery like Laparoscopic hernia, gall bladder, appendix surgeries, varicose vein treatment with minimally invasive technique. He routinely perform Thyroid, Breast and GI cases. He is also doing surgeries with latest techniques for hemorrhoids and fistula. He has carried out minimally invasive (VAAFT) surgery for anal fistula with collagen treatment with good results. This modified technique is well appreciated by Fistuloscope inventor Piercarlo Meinero from Italy. He has also performed complicated abdominal wall hernia cases which were live transmitted during APHS conference in Abu Dhabi 2017 and Dubai 2018.
Dr. Ananth has organised APHS conference in Middle East and instrumental in getting Centre of Excellence in Hernia Care for NMC Specialty Abu Dhabi. He is one of the reviewer for Hernia Journal. He is a mentor for Hernia Fellowship in the Middle East. He is in the higher management committee, Chief of Disaster management committee for NMC Specialty Hospital. Dr. Ananth Pai has conducted various operational drills for the hospital as per DOH guidelines. He is an active member of Abu Dhabi Surgery Club. He has collaborated with Royal College, Glasgow for distant learning activities. He has presented many papers in recent conferences and has won best video presentation award. He is involved in management of 3 unique hernia cases in the UAE along with Dr. Tim Tollens from Belgium, these type of cases involved multi modalities of treatment, which is rarely done in UAE. Dr. Ananth can speak English, Arabic, Hindi, Kannada, Konkani and Tulu.
