Ali Bazarbachi, MD, Ph.D. is a Professor of Medicine (Hematology and Oncology), Professor of Anatomy, Cell Biology, and Physiological Sciences, Associate Dean for basic research, and Director of the bone marrow transplantation program at the American University of Beirut-Medical Center. He received his MD and PhD degrees, residency, and fellowship training at the University of Paris VII in France.

Dr. Ali Bazarbachi’s research focuses on developing oncogene-targeted therapies for human leukemia and lymphoma as well as post-transplant pharmacological interventions. He has co-authored more than 300 articles in leading scientific journals including The New England Journal of Medicine, Science, Journal of Experimental Medicine, The Lancet Oncology, Journal of Clinical Oncology, Blood, Nature Communication, Leukemia, Cell Death and Differentiation, Oncogene, and Cancer Research, and serves as a reviewer for many of these journals.

He received the French Ligue Contre le Cancer Prize for Cancer Research, the Hafez Kobeissi Prize for Excellence in Scientific Research, the Erwin Diwan Award, the CEDRE award, the 2008 award of the French National Academy of Medicine, the Award for Distinguished Researchers of the Lebanese National Council for Scientific Research, the Clinical/Translational Research Award of the International Conference on Human Retrovirology, the Distinguished Clinical Scholar in Residence 2012 from Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University, Atlanta, and the Award for Career Excellence in Scientific Research from the Lebanese Association for the Advancement of Sciences. He is the past President of the Lebanese Society of Hematology, Chairman of the EMBMT Lymphoma Working Party, Chairman of the NCCN Lymphoma Group for Middle East and North Africa, and associate editor of Bone Marrow Transplantation.
