Alfredo Garcia Layana PhD, MD

Dr. Alfredo García Layana Opthalmology Department Consultant University Clinic of Navarra Spain. He is graduated in medicine and surgery at the University of Navarra in the year 1987 and phD in medicine from the University of Valladolid in the year 1993and thereafter he worked as a specialist in the ophthalmology department at the University of Valladolid in 1993 and worked as a general practitioner in ministry for health and consumer affairs in the year 1994.

His Specialization and improvement internships at the Massachusetts Eye and EarInfirmary in Boston, the Ophthalmic Consultants of Boston, the New YorkPresbyterian Hospital of the University of Columbia, Mount Sinai Hospital, and the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Hospital in New York. He is the author of over 110 scientific publications. - Author of 8 books and 19 chapters. - Director of 9 PhDs. -Over 250 conference papers presented at congresses, invited speakers at national and international talks, and presentations at courses and seminars. Participant in over 35 clinical research and test projects as head researcher.

He is the Head researcher in the AMD-TARGET European Multinational project, a pioneering international project in genetic therapy for macular degeneration. He is the Director of the experimental ophthalmology laboratory at the Medical Faculty of the University of Navarra. He is a Tenured lecturer in Opthalmology at the Medical Faculty of the University of Navarra.
