Alexander H. Flannery PharmD, PhD, FCCM, FCCP, FASHP, BCCCP, BCPS

Dr. Flannery received his Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Kentucky, followed by completion of a PGY1 pharmacy practice residency at the Medical University of South Carolina and a PGY2 critical care specialty residency at the University of Kentucky.

Dr. Flannery's clinical and translational research program focuses on sepsis and acute kidney injury, with an emphasis on biological and molecular observations of human disease to gain a better understanding of the underlying pathophysiology and working collaboratively to develop improved pre-clinical and clinical approaches to treatment based on this information. He is actively involved with leading clinical trials in the areas of sepsis, acute kidney injury, and other conditions impacting acutely ill hospitalized patients.

Dr. Flannery coordinates the Clinical Reasoning course, among other teaching activities in the College. He maintains an active practice site in the Medical Intensive Care Unit at UK HealthCare. He is an active member and recognized as a Fellow of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy, the Society of Critical Care Medicine, and the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists.
