Alexander Eugene Gurfinkel MD

Dr. Gurfinkel joined the Division of Hospital Medicine in 2015 with his clinical time divided between Fairview Ridges Hospital and Masonic Children’s Hospital. He obtained his medical degree at Russian State Medical University in Moscow, Russia. While in medical school he followed a pediatric track with additional studies in pediatric neurology. Dr. Gurfinkel moved to the United States in 1997 and completed his pediatric residency at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia and received additional training in general surgery at Thomas Jefferson University and George Washington University.
Dr. Gurfinkel then joined a pediatric practice in the suburbs of Washington, DC, where for over seven years he enjoyed providing care to children of all ages, with additional focus on improving outcomes for patients with asthma and allergies. In his current role as a pediatric hospitalist, he serves on the Physician Informatics Committee at Fairview Ridges Hospital and is a co-lead in a quality improvement project in Newborn Nursery for the UMN Masonic Children’s Hospital.
