Dr Alex G Ortega Loayza is an assistant professor at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia. A native of Lima, Peru, he obtained his medical degree from the University of San Marcos in Lima, the oldest in Latin America. After graduation, he worked as a general practitioner in the Navy of Peru and was a clinical research associate for his medical school. Afterwards, he completed further research training in dermatology and internal medicine at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. Later on, he completed his clinical training in dermatology and internal medicine at Virginia Commonwealth University. His clinical interests are complex medical dermatology including connective tissue skin disease and autoimmunity. His research interests include skin inflammatory diseases.
