Mr. West specializes in the medical and surgical management of urinary stone disease including lithotripsy, laser stone fragmentation, and percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) for removal of larger, more complex kidney stones. He has developed particular expertise in surgery for enlarged prostates, specifically Holmium laser enucleation of the prostate (HoLEP), proven to be more effective than traditional prostate operations for this condition. He led the development of the South Tees HoLEP service in 2010 and has mentored colleagues both locally and nationally in this procedure.
