Alain Borgeat MD

Prof. Alain Borgeat, M.D., Head of the Department of Anesthesiology, Orthopedic University Hospital Balgrist, Zurich, Switzerland and full Professor for Regional Anesthesia of the University of Zurich. He is an expert in Regional Anesthesia, Intravenous Anesthesia and Pain Management.

He studied at the Medical School of the University of Lausanne where he got 1980 the Federal Diploma. 1981 he received the ECFMG certificate in Geneva. The education in Anesthesiology and Intensive Care took place in the University Hospitals of Lausanne and Geneva. In 1985 he got the doctor title from the University of Lausanne, in 1988 the Diploma of the Swiss Association of Anesthesiology and Reanimation and in 1989 the European Diploma for Intensive Care.

In 1994 he was associate Professor of the Medical School of the University of Geneva and from 1995-2001 he was associate Professor of the Medical School of the University of Zurich, than Professor and since 2006 full Professor for Regional Anesthesia of the University of Zurich. Since 2009 he is a Visiting Clinical Professor of Anesthesiology, University of Illinois, College of Medicine, Chicago IL 60612.
