Dr. Ahmed El-Laboudi is a leading exponent of new diabetes technology. Through his work as a member of the Imperial College London Diabetes Technology group in the UK, he was awarded a PhD degree in the fields of continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) and glycaemic variability. He was at the forefront of research to develop a novel continuous glucose sensor aiming to improve the lives of type 1 diabetes patients.
His clinical and academic interests are type 1 diabetes, glycaemic variability and the application of new technologies including insulin pump therapy, continuous glucose monitoring, and artificial pancreas research. In Endocrinology, he has a special interest in pituitary, thyroid, parathyroid, and adrenal diseases.
He has published several papers in peer-reviewed journals and presented his research in major international conferences. He is also passionate about medical education and has substantial teaching experience.
His career extends over 15 years of working in some of the world-renowned clinical and academic centers of excellence in the UK, where he worked as a consultant before joining ICLDC in 2017.
