Dr. Adil H. Haider was the former Dean of the Aga Khan University Medical College, serving from 2019 to 2025. He will now serve as the Director of the Centre for Clinical Best Practices, in addition to continuing as Professor of Surgery and Professor of Community Health Sciences at AKU. A distinguished alumnus, he was the first graduate of the University’s MBBS programme to be appointed Dean. He also holds a Master’s degree in Public Health from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, where he trained as a trauma surgeon and later served on the faculty.
During his tenure as Dean, Dr Haider played a pivotal role in AKU’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic. He co-led the Academic Medical Centre and worked to establish public-private partnerships with the Government of Pakistan to strengthen healthcare delivery. His efforts included the expansion of telemedicine services and the development of online training programmes to support healthcare professionals across the country.
