Adam Frederick Spitz MD

Dr. Spitz is board certified in Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism. He has practiced in Charlotte, NC for 23 years, the past 15 of which have been at Novant Health Endocrinology. Novant Health's seven provider group sees a broad spectrum of endocrine disorders as well as hospital consultations, striving to provide "one-stop shopping" for their patients. Novant Health's services include on-site thyroid ultrasound and ultrasound-guided biopsy (all usually done at the same visit as the consultation), insulin pump and glucose sensor downloading, placement and interpretation of continuous glucose sensors.
Novant Health strives to provide the highest level of service for patients. Dr. Spitz is the medical director for the Novant Diabetes Resource Center in Charlotte and has been at the forefront of integrating EMR with diabetes care. Notable publications include the AACE guidelines for the medical managment of the bariatric surgery patient. On a personal note, Dr. Spitz has been active in giving back to the community.
For several years he has volunteered at the free clinic and has also dome community outreach for Novant. Dr. Spitz has been a board member and active volunteer for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. He lives with his wife and two dogs, and has two adult children. He enjoys family time, hiking with his dogs, and bike riding. Dr. Spitz has recently written his first novel, a medical thriller called EMR.
