Working group of hematological and oncological nurses in Austria / Arbeitsgemeinschaft Hamatologischer und Onkologischer Pflegepersonen in Osterreich (AHOP)
Vienna, Wien, Austria
The AHOP, the working group of hematological and oncological nurses in Austria, was founded in 1994. The nursing society offers numerous activities that support the hematology and oncology nursing staff in their daily work, regardless of the setting. Professional nurses have been committed to creating a solid and high-quality range of oncological and hematological care together for more than 25 years. Through voluntary work, AHOP is able to be present in all federal states through state contact persons. This national network is supported by the structures of a registered association. AHOP is a member of the international network of EONS (European Oncology Nursing Society) and has close ties to cooperation partners in the DACH region. National events serve to network and exchange information between members and interested parties. In 2021, AHOP counts over 750 carers among its members. The activities of the company in Austria are based on the developed leitmotif.
Objectives:
The hematological and oncological nurse (cancer nurse) should be established as an equal partner with patients, doctors, and health and social professionals involved in the treatment in a multi-professional team throughout Austria. In addition, it is important to ensure that the nursing care of the people affected is at the same level in all federal states and to ensure a high level of knowledge in oncological and hematological care.
