The Nigerian Association of Paediatric Dentistry (NAPD) was inaugurated on August 18, 2005 in the lecture room of the School of Dental Sciences, College of Medicine of the University of Lagos, Idi-Araba, Lagos. The foundation executive members were Prof. E. O. Sote, Drs (now Profs) O. Denloye, C.A. Sofowora, F. A. Oredugba, Drs. A. F. Idiakhoa, O. O. Orenuga, O. O. Bankole, M.O. Ukpong, and J. O. Mafeni. Prof. Sote served as the foundation President of the association from 2005 to 2009.
