Latin American Society of Interventional Cardiology / Sociedad Latinoamericana de Cardiologia Intervencionista (SOLACI)

Buenos Aires, Buenos Aires, Argentina

Mission
To integrate, educate, promote research and normalize the practice of cardiovascular intervention in Latin America.

Vision
SOLACI will be the reference organization for cardiovascular intervention in Latin America. An active, transparent and dynamic organization that impacts the day to day of its members and generates high value to interventional cardiologists, local societies and industry.

History
In June 1993, a small group of Latin American interventional cardiologists gathered at the Mexican Institute of Cardiology and decided to create GLACI the Latin American Group of Interventional Cardiologists. GLACI was established as a group of friends who recognized the need to share experiences and knowledge and contribute to the development of the specialty in Latin American countries.

In December 1994, the group held its First International Symposium in El Calafate, southern Argentina, near the Perito Moreno Glacier. It brought together nearly 100 interventional cardiologists from across Latin America, the United States, Europe, and Asia.

From this beginning, it grew rapidly and in 1995 the group became a Scientific Society, thus giving rise to SOLACI. In the same year, the First Congress was held in São Paulo, Brazil.
