The German Society for Pediatric Infectiology (DGPI) was founded in 1991 as a registered association, which consisted of the Arbeitsgemeinschaft Infektiologie of the Society for Pediatrics of the former GDR and the Commission for Infectious Diseases of the German Society for Pediatrics in the Federal Republic of Germany.
