German Society for Endocrinology / Deutsche Gesellschaft fur Endokrinologie (DGE)

The German Society for Endocrinology (DGE) is the scientific society and advocacy group for all those who research, teach, or practice medicine in the field of hormones and metabolism. The German Society for Endocrinology was founded in 1953 in Hamburg at the suggestion of Arthur Jores.

With approximately 1660 members, the DGE is one of the largest endocrinological societies in Europe. Its members represent all endocrinological conditions in basic research and clinical care, including thyroid diseases, diabetes, osteoporosis, fertility disorders, obesity, pituitary diseases, and adrenal gland diseases.

The German Society for Endocrinology (DGE) sees its main task as promoting research in the field of endocrinology – both in basic and clinical research. The DGE also advocates for intensifying the exchange of opinions and experiences between the various disciplines represented within the DGE, as well as for strengthening the exchange of views between the DGE and the public.
