The German Knee Society was founded in Munich in the summer of 2012 and has since developed into a thriving young specialist society with almost 700 members.

A group of trauma surgeons and orthopedic surgeons had set themselves the goal of bringing together knee surgery with its many areas in a scientific specialist society.

The company wants to promote research, advanced training and advanced training for doctors, therapists and scientists in the case of injuries and diseases of the knee joint. It is intended to bring together trauma surgeons, endoprosthetics, sports trauma specialists, sports medicine specialists, physiotherapists and scientists.

Since the beginning, numerous research projects have been funded, publications developed, fellowships and observations in the DKG's observation centers organized. Furthermore, certificates for the knee surgeon and for the knee center of the German Knee Society were developed to improve the quality of knee surgery, which met with great interest.

The professional political task of the association is the presentation of the prevention, diagnosis and therapy of injuries, diseases, deformities and wear of the knee joint as well as the periarticular musculoskeletal system in public, in associations and in politics and in service providers.
