The European Society for Immunodeficiencies (ESID) is a non-profit organization whose main objectives are to facilitate the exchange of ideas and information among doctors, nurses, biomedical investigators, patients and their families concerned with primary immunodeficiency diseases and also to promote research on causes, mechanisms and treatment of these disorders. ESID was established as an informal group in 1983 and became a society in 1994.

ESID has been striving to improve the knowledge in the field of Primary Immunodeficiency (PID) by encouraging research, developing educational programs and fostering cooperation among all those involved in the diagnosis, treatment and management of these diseases.

Mission:
ESID mission is to improve the awareness, diagnosis, treatment and understanding of primary immunodeficiency diseases through education, documentation, promotion of best practice guidelines, research and evaluation of patient outcomes.

Vision:
ESID's vision is that of a world in which every child, adolescent and adult with an inborn error of the immune system benefits from both clinical and scientific knowledge allowing them to live their lives to their full potential.
