The European Institute of Oncology (IEO) was born from an idea of ​​Umberto Veronesi and was inaugurated in May 1994; two years later it became an Institute for Hospitalization and Treatment of a Scientific Character (IRCCS).

The European Institute of Oncology, a Scientific Hospitalization and Treatment Institute, is a "comprehensive cancer centre", with a "non-profit" purpose, active in three areas: Clinical, Research and Training.

The IEO aims to achieve excellence in the field of cancer prevention, diagnosis and treatment through the development of clinical scientific research and organizational and management innovation in a context of constant attention to the quality of the service provided to the assisted persons. The values ​​and principles that inspire and guide the operators of the Institute are:
