Cardiac Skills Australia specialises in echocardiography (cardiac ultrasound) training for medical specialists. Their training acknowledges the growing demand for 'point of care' ultrasound and its role as a fundamental tool for diagnostic evaluation.
Their workshops use a step-by-step approach to teach the skills necessary for performing focused cardiac ultrasound, or take it a step further to learn about diagnosing diastolic dysfunction. With individualised tuition by experienced cardiac sonographers, an emphasis on hands-on training, and small group settings (1:3 ratio), this means that delegates will walk away being able to confidently and competently perform a focused cardiac ultrasound exam. Cardiac Skills Australia also offers bespoke departmental training which can be tailored to the departments specific needs, or private one on one training, along with ultrasound probe/education bundles.
Cardiac Skills Australia has been training Drs in focused cardiac ultrasound since 2013. Amy Secomb (Director) has been there from the start and is an accredited cardiac sonographer with extensive experience performing complex echocardiograms in the critical care settings. She has years of experience teaching sonographers and Drs alike in all aspects of echocardiography, is an experienced facilitator in problem based learning, and has a passion to improve the healthcare of our nation.
Cardiac Skills Australia is accredited with ANZCA, CICM, ACEM, RACGP, ACRRM, ASUM CCPU units of FELS and RCE, and we are part of the Rural Procedural Grant Program.
