Our accredited 2-day Focussed Cardiac Ultrasound workshop is designed for medical professionals seeking practical, clinically relevant cardiac ultrasound skills. We also welcome paramedics, nurses and other health professionals looking to develop point-of-care cardiac ultrasound capability. The workshop equips clinicians with the essential skills to confidently perform a focussed cardiac ultrasound exam, supporting accurate diagnosis and timely patient care.

Training is delivered in small groups with a balanced mix of theory and hands-on scanning. With a 1:3 educator ratio and real-patient scanning, participants receive personalised guidance and ample practice time. Whether you are picking up the probe for the first time or refining existing skills, our team tailors the learning experience to ensure you gain maximum value from the workshop.

Workshop Objectives:

1. To appreciate heart anatomy
2. Understand acoustic windows and imaging planes used in echo
3. Understand echo image orientation and how to troubleshoot to obtain technically correct windows
4. Provide tutor assisted hands-on echo practice
5. Outline common pathologies associated with the heart
6. Appreciate echo as a tool to assess left and right heart systolic function
7. Describe and understand how echo is used to measure cardiac output, stroke volume, ejection fraction, LVOT VTI, RVSP, TAPE etc.
8. Understand normal values in an echo examination
9. Understand the basic principles of Doppler haemodynamics
10. Understand the limitations of the Doppler technique
11. Identify common ultrasound artefacts
12. Understand the components of a FOCUS echo examination
