Who We Are
The Canadian Thoracic Society (CTS) is Canada’s national inter-professional specialty society for respirology bringing together over 1,000 members representing specialists, physicians, researchers and healthcare professionals from a variety of disciplines working in respiratory health.

The Canadian Thoracic Society was first formed in 1958 when the Canadian Tuberculosis Association, now The Lung Association, recognized the need to establish a medical association to address the problems of medical education and research in the field of tuberculosis and other respiratory diseases. Up until its incorporation as a distinct legal entity in 2015, the CTS served as the medical section of The Lung Association and remains a strong collaborating partner today.

The Canadian Thoracic Society promotes lung health by enhancing the ability of healthcare professionals through leadership, collaboration, research, learning and advocacy, and providing the best respiratory practices in Canada.
