Organization
APSHO is a nonprofit membership organization consisting of nurse practitioners, physician assistants, pharmacists, clinical nurse specialists, and advanced practice nurses, all working in oncology. The organization began in January of 2014.

The organization is managed by a Board of Directors. The initial Board of Directors is eight persons. New seats on the Board of Directors will be added from 2015 to 2017. Two additional directors will be elected in 2015, two more will be elected in 2016, and one more will be elected in 2017. The Board must include at least one nurse practitioner, one physician assistant, and one pharmacist.

The business of APSHO is conducted by various committees comprising APSHO member volunteers. This work is supported by members of the APSHO full-time staff.

Mission
To improve the quality of care for patients with cancer by supporting critical issues in educational, clinical, and professional development for advanced practitioners in hematology and oncology.

Vision
High-quality, cost-effective oncology patient care delivered through collaborative practice models that optimize the role of advanced practitioners.

Collaborative Practice
An interdisciplinary team approach to cancer treatment offers the best hope for APSHO's patients’ treatment, quality of life, and survivorship.
