Working with Special Populations is organized by Appalachian Way Counseling, LLC. This Course has been approved for a maximum of 7 Hours.

Overview:
This training is relevant to certification or recertification for educational requirements and professional growth issues, along with treatment planning, case management, ethical standards and continuing care.

Materials provided by NIDA, SAMSHA, American Counseling Association with a power point.

This class provides an overview to address treatment issues, define characteristics, and risk factors with a focus on: children, women, LGBT, individuals with disabilities, and homeless individuals. Professionals working with these populations will explore barriers to treatment and recovery, and discuss recommended treatment approaches for special populations. Interventions and preventions will be explored and effective substance abuse treatment will be defined for the groups.

This class will provide an opportunity for aspiring and seasoned counselors to explore their own biases and outlooks and gain insight into expanded supports for clients.
