The target audience for this medical event is Primary care providers, nurses, social workers, and pharmacists. This CME Conference has been approved for a maximum of 0.75 CME.
Unique strategies in caring for women with HIV may be unfamiliar to many providers given male predominance of infection in the United States. Pregnancy, primary care and contraception care may present road blocks in the care of women with HIV.
Women represent about one-quarter of HIV cases in the United States. Caring for women with HIV presents unique challenges at all stages of life; delivering this care may differ substantially from strategies involving men infected with HIV.
Conference Objectives :
Upon completion of this educational activity, you will be able to:
• Review current guidelines for HIV-infected patients as they pertain to women
• Identify common pitfalls to concomitant use of hormonal contraception and antiretroviral therapy
• Discuss updates to care of the HIV-infected woman that is pregnant
