OVERVIEW

Tweetorial: Analyzing Two Schizophrenia Case Reports is organized by CME Institute of Physicians Postgraduate Press, Inc. (PPP).

Activity opens: 05/01/2023
Activity expires: 05/31/2024

Program Description
In this Tweetorial, Leslie Citrome, MD, MPH, John Lauriello, MD, and Amber Hoberg, PMHNP-BC analyze two different case studies of patients with schizophrenia in the context of orally administered (OA) verses long-acting injectable (LAI) antipsychotic treatment strategies. Each case walks through the patient’s history with diagnosis and management of schizophrenia, their tolerability and adherence to current treatment, candidacy for treatment with an LAI, and how to switch from an OA to an LAI antipsychotic. While LAIs may not always be the best course of treatment, they should be considered more often in the appropriate patient early in their treatment journey.

Learning Objectives:
After completing this educational activity, you should be able to:
Examine data comparing the efficacy of LAIAs and oral medications.
• Analyze the clinical trial data and unique considerations of available LAIAs.
• Implement early integration of LAIA therapies in appropriate patients.
