TMLT's Closed Claims: An Opportunity to Learn (2nd Edition) is organized by Texas Medical Liability Trust (TMLT) and will be held from Apr 06, 2018 - Apr 06, 2021.

Target Audience:
This 2.5-hour activity is intended for physicians of all specialties who are interested in practical ways to reduce the potential for malpractice liability.

Credits:
• 2.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ (Internet Enduring)
• 1 Medical Ethics and/or Professional Responsibility

Course Description:
These closed claim studies are provided to help physicians improve patient safety and reduce potential liability risks that may arise when treating patients. While certain claim allegations may be limited to specific medical specialties, errors in documentation, prescriptions, and diagnoses may occur across all medical specialties.

Course Objectives:
Upon completion of this course, participants should be able to describe methods of:
• maintaining good documentation, as described by Texas Medical Board guidelines;
• fostering clear communication and education between the physician and patient;
• staying current with the most recent guidelines in medication and with the proper dosage of dangerous medications; and
• minimizing the possibility of delayed diagnoses.
