OVERVIEW

The Guthy-Jackson Charitable Foundation (GJCF) NMOSD Grand Rounds program aims to inform practicing neurology specialists as well as the broader spectrum of neurologists and allied healthcare providers regarding the latest information in evidence-based science and medicine of NMOSD. This program features 12 essential topics addressed by experts in the field at a monthly interval. Organized and curated by GJCF advisors, this series of educational webinars enables continuing medical education (CME) credit.

Session entitled “Therapeutic Decision-Making: Mechanisms & Rationale” is designed to update knowledge important for understanding the immunologic targets of approved NMOSD therapeutics as well as the rationale for selection of therapeutics for use in maintenance (relapse prevention) or off-label use in acute relapse events. Application of this knowledge is intended to facilitate the best clinical outcomes and minimize long-term disability in NMOSD.

Educational Objectives
After completing this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. To understand the pathophysiology underlying the mechanism of action of NMOSD therapeutics.
  2. To list acute and prophylactic treatments for NMOSD.
  3. To elaborate strategies for selecting and modifying treatment in patients.
