Given the limited access to mental health specialists, primary care practitioners must often diagnose, initiate treatment, and chronically manage different anxiety disorders. This presentation utilizes evidence-based medicine and case studies to discuss the underlying pathophysiology of anxiety and the different options of pharmaceuticals in the treatment of anxiety.
Learning Objectives:
After taking part in this educational activity, participants should be better able to:
- Describe the physiologic targets of pharmacologic management of anxiety disorders.
- Compare and contrast pharmacologic options for management of anxiety disorders
- Apply concepts in case study presentation.
