This course is designed for pharmacists, nurse practitioners or other healthcare professionals involved in the comprehensive medication management of psychiatric and/or neurological patients.

Session Summary:
There have been considerable changes in the diagnostic process and understanding of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) over the past few years. Further, there is an overall gap in knowledge with regard to differential diagnosis, clinical presentation and the role of pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic approaches in the treatment of ASD. This program will provide attendees with a better understanding of differential diagnosis, clinical presentation and the role of the pharmacist in the treatment of ASD.

Learning Objectives:
• Review the clinical presentation of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
• Assess the common co-occurring genetic, psychiatric, and medical disorders associated with ASD. 
• Evaluate the value and role of pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic approaches in the symptomatic treatment of ASD.
• Describe the role of pharmacists on the multidisciplinary team in the care of individuals with ASD.
